Red Book

Back in 2010 I decided to start drawing in pocket sized books.

That I could have with me everywhere.

All red with red drawings in them.

No rules about the subject, just whatever I felt like,

in the last one I changed so its almost all from whatever is in front of me,

before it was also form photographs or older art.

I just started the 13th book.

After the jump are some photos from the first 12 books.

bringing a selection of my books including my new artists' book:  

Nothing That Is Hidden Will Be Revealed.
There are about 160 exhibitors of artists’ books in the fair, it is fun and free to get in.

Brakke Boeken books in Eindhoven

At the end of the month there is an exhibition of books in Eindhoven arranged by the artist Frank van Ansem. 

I am not sure what book of mine is in the exhibition, but I looked up the other participants 

and it looked pretty interesting

Through the years MoMA has been very good at buying my books, 

this is the latest little pile of books to go into their collection.

The exhibitions is a way of showing how some of my books come to be

Artists' Book Fair at The Black Diamond

This upcoming weekend there is a two day Artists’ book fair

at Den Sorte Diamant / The Royal Library in Copenhagen

I will be there with Fluens Forlag

I have made three new small books and a fortune teller that are all ready for the fair

The Fair is at the exhibition Opslag Nedslag

That has some of my books in it.

During the two day fair it is free to get into the exhibition

For those who can not make it to the fair the new books are also available at the Flâneur store

Opslag Nedslag Opening

Yesterdays opening of Opslag Nedslag at the Royal Library was really nice.

The exhibition looks great, it is installed very well.

There are a lot of artist' books by a very eclectic array of Danish artists,

spanning from 1933 till today, most from the last 30 some years.

A lot of books that I had not seen before, 

and enough of them that you could flip through, 

to not be annoyed to just look at covers, 

like it often happens at book exhibitions.

My books was on loan from Niels Starck, he has a very 

impressive and interesting collection of Artist' books, 

it might be the largest private collection in Denmark, 

He is always interesting to talk to about books, 

that was the other highlight of the evening, 

talking to all these artist about the books we make. 

My four books in the exhibition are:

Edderkoppe Hi-Fi (2000)

Just Another Diamond Day (2006)

Fun Time (2013)

I will take a look and if I do I will bring them to the Book Fair on the 28/29 of October
along with the three new books I am trying to get finished in time.

Opslag Nedslag

Today is the opening of  Opslag Nedslag.

It is an exhibition of Artist' books at the Royal Library in Copenhagen

I have some books in the exhibition, but I don't know what books are in it.

I will post again after I have been at the opening.

It is in the same place where there will be a small Artist' book fair on the 28/29 of October.

Fluens Forlag at Friends with Books: Art Book Fair Berlin 2015

This weekend is the Friends With Books: Art Book Fair Berlin. 

I will be there with Fluens Forlag,
bringing a selection of my books including the new one:  

Nothing Will Corrupt Us, Nothing Will Compete,
it is a catalogue from the exhibition I did when I was at Künstlerhaus Bethanien.
There are about 120 exhibitors of artists’ books in the fair and it is free to get in.

Nothing Will Corrupt Us, Nothing Will Compete
This is Stürup's brand new book.
It is a 32 page full colour softcover catalogue of the works from the solo exhibition:
Nothing Will Corrupt Us, Nothing Will Compete at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. Berlin. Germany
This was the first time Stürup has been showing his new paintings,
 since he had stopped painting in the mid 90’s.
The catalogue has images of all the work from the exhibition,
besides all the paintings there are all of the fur sculptures and drawings reproduced.

After a long break there is a store again

Over time I will keep adding more item to the store

both new and things I find in the archives

 Right now there are the last five artist's books, two series of prints and a lino cut

I just finished the drawings for a new small publication.

It is the artist Paul Weston who has the Instigator imprint who is the publisher.

Hopefully it will be ready for the Art Book Fair In Los Angeles that he is going to take part in.

 Today was the opening of Ud Af Skabet, 

a show of artist's books at Nivaagaard.

About 200 books are on display.

Mine are That's When the Rabbit Taught the Eagle a Lesson With a Smith & Wesson

and Written in Fur Drawn In Snow

They are in a great room in the museum 
filled with paintings by Rembrandt, Cranach and other masters.

The death of my computer has made me absent from the blog,

but I should be back againg now

Talk about Artists' Books at Danmarks Kunstbibliotek

Thomas Hvid Kromann has arranged a talk at Danmarks Kunstbibliotek about Artists’ books.
First Thomas will be talking about Artists’ books. 

He was recently one of the editors of the first larger book about Danish Artists books.

Anneli Fuchs will be talking about the library collection of Artists’ books

Then Kasper Hesselbjerg, Lasse Krog Møller and I will be talking about being small publishers and our own books.

I haven't been to the library for many years, I used to work there back sometime around 1995, 

I’m looking very much forward to this. 

When working there my job was to fetch the books people requested and I would take my time, 

browsing what books was close to the books I was supposed to find, 

their collection is absolutely amazing.

Tables at Printed Matter,Inc

My favorite book store Printed Matter,Inc has added a new section to their website, called Tables.
They show books by a selection of the artists who has their books in the store.
I just found out they did one with some of my books.
Going to Printed Matter, Inc is like entering Aladdin's Cave of Artist's Books, 
I'm not sure I ever left without a great book I didn't know I wanted before entering.
They have had my books since sometime in 1999 
when I came by the shop on a studio trip with The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art.
