The Eye And The Ear

Ando who has the Undergang podcast where he talks to artists, musicians and writers,
invited me to talk with him a cpl of weeks ago.
We talk for about an hour, manly about what goes on in the studio,
becoming an artist and moving for art.
We also talk a bit about me arriving in a great environment in Copenhagen in 1987
that made me choose the 80's style photo above for Ando to use,
taken on a road trip in 2012 at the Cadillac Ranch in Texas,
I did three posts with photographs from that trip that you can revisit on the links below

In a river the color of lead

At the moment one of the things I am working on are some large drawings.
They are made up of a lot of smaller parts,
some independent drawings and some drawings spanning multiple sheets of paper.
Each part should work in it own right, but off course also as a part of the hole.
I have been trying to find a way to be free from the constrain of paper sizes,
I hate rolls!
This seems to be working for me at the moment,
when setting out to work I don't know the final size yet,
I like only having a vague feeling of where the work is going,
there will be no death by planning.
It is an extension of the way I have been building up all the motives
in my drawings for some time now.

After the jump you can see some of the drawings that has not found their place yet.

Two Unknown Ladies

Two Unknown Ladies and a Blooming Cactus

The two women are at Thorvaldsens Museum,
Before today, It was probberly about 10 years since I was there last.
It is an amazing place full of is his sculptures, both casts and marbles.
Besides enjoying his work, the building by Bindesbøll is a worth a visit by itself.
The museum also houses Thorvaldsens collection of art and artifacts,
a lot of Roman and some Egyptian works.
And a very funky painting of hell by Jan Bruegel the Elder.
In the basement they have the theater seat that Thorvaldsens sat on in the opera when he died.
One of the place I missed wile being in New York

Shiny things on my studio floor created this rainbow on the wall today
I thought it was a great gift and shot a couple of my new drawings in the light

Wrapped Up In Books

I am back in Copenhagen. We moved here a couple of weeks ago.
For the first time in many years I have all my books together in one place,
I'm taking advantage of that to take stock of all the books
to see how many are left of each title,
for most of them it's just my own archive that is left.
Enjoying seeing all of them together it makes me want to make new ones.

This week was the Film Festival here in Berlin
I went to Butter on the Latch and the party for 20,000 Days on Earth.
